Wordpress: Akismet Page now running again
I tried to activate again my Akismet plugin and I tried to go to the comments page where you can find a link to Akismet page. When I clicked the link the page loaded without errors and by this point I think I know what had been the reason why my akismet page isn’t loading.
- If you have a blog hosted externally in WordPress.com and you are using the Akismet plugin, make sure to delete that blog if you will host your blog on your own. You can use the export-import feature of WordPress if you don’t like to lose your old posts in the said blog.
- If your Akismet Plugin caught spam comment, trackbacks, pings, in your old posts hosted in WordPress.com, make sure they are all deleted first before using the same Akismet API Key.
If you don’t want to do all of this and want to preserve your old posts in WordPress.com blog and just make a new self-hosted WordPress blog then you will need to make a new WordPress.com Account to create a new API Key because you can only use one API Key per blog.
