Podcasting Do’s and Don’ts
Podcasting is now a new thing on the web that is used by many bloggers. Podcasting, of course have Do’s and Don’ts just like blogging but not the same as blogging, Podcasting is not a very popular thing for some professionals and Beginners. Let’s not tackle that right now instead I will give you some Do’s and Don’ts to help you boost a kick off your podcasting experience.
Do
Professionalism
Regardless of whether you’re podcasting from your garage, boardroom, or rambling inside your bedroom, there is no reason that your podcast cannot have a professional sound and feel. Podcasting isn’t just like playing a music in your player with instruments and you as a vocalist. You should clean your audio file up before releasing it to the public. Listeners will not tolerate poor audio quality just for you. Use audio editing software to edit your file and filter background noises. With wide range of relatively inexpensive software (and so many are free) and hardware, there is no reason why you cannot provide high quality podcast.
Content
As for normal blogging or creating a podcast, provide high quality content that is informative, educational or entertaining.
Remove that Heavy Accent
Not many people understand heavy accent at all. If you have a heavy European-like accent, make sure to try to eliminate it so your listeners will understand what you are saying. Many People will not listen to what you are talking about if they don’t understand what you are saying.
Different Support
Make sure you will provide high quality files that is supported by many gadgets. For some reason if your file isn’t supported most likely you will lose listeners. Standard extension for podcasts are mp3 files and for others, you can also create files with the extension of AAC which is the default format of the Apple iPod.
Promote your Show
Of course no one will ever know you podcast if you don’t market it and let your readers know about it. So make sure to make some blog posts about your podcast and via an RSS Feed.
Subscribe to your Podcast feed
Subscribe to your feed, this will allow you to see and hear what your audience sees and hears.
Don’t
Stray
Do not stray too far from the topic. If your podcast is about cooking then stay with cooking and don’t put yourself talking about your political views.
One episode try out
Podcasting does not work that way. It is a low-level investment that builds momentum over time.
Ramble
Make a point then move on, there is no need for redundancy and rambling. Dead air or redundancy will drive listeners away, keep your show moving. Do not be afraid to use audio editing software to remove any uncomfortable silence or repetition, it will make your show more professional.
Low Bandwidth
Don’t just host your site or blog to any hosting company with a cheap plan out there. Use a reliable hosting provider that can handle your shows’ bandwidth.
