Strategies and Tips for finding Readers

Finding Readers of your blog will take time longer than you expected. It may not be what you want to hear but unless you are a genius with great new ideas, It will take time to build readership. So settle in for the long run and build up your patience.

Good Topic, Content or Article

As I have posted before on How to make a good topic in your blog, Good topic can lead you a hundred of page views (or maybe more) within just an hour or a day.

Participate

Interactivity is just another way to increasing you blog’s readership.Leaving a comment on other blogger’s blog is a way of saying “You deserve my comment” but of course spamming isn’t good or just saying “Hi, nice post” or whatsoever it is.

Interact with Readers

If a reader reaches out to you with a comment, email, or link from their blog, interact with them. This is one of the good ways of increasing the chances that they’ll come back again in your blog. Don’t hesitate to reply to their post and make it the best experience you can for them and you’ll find out that they are spreading the word for you.

Search Engine Optimization

Some bloggers don’t think much of SEO but for me it is well worth knowing some basic SEO principles, after all, people will most likely go to search engine to search for the information they want on a topic.

Offline Techniques

Consider how you might promote it offline might just bring you new readers also. Such techniques can include putting your URI’s in a Business Card, a Letterhead, Word of Mouth, and other methods.

Advertise

As I’ve said on How to Monetize from your Blog, advertising isn’t just for you to became a publisher but also an advertiser. Some of the blogs I know are advertising in their first month.

Participate in Forums Online

Forums are one of the places where information is gathered together. In this information, some of them may include topics or information the same with your blog. You can contribute and if allowed, post a link of your blog including your contribution (you can instead put a link in your forum signature).

Projects

You can start a project or a conference or other bloggers inviting you to participate in their projects. Put yourself into it, volunteer and give them some of your free time and contribute. But don’t just do it to ask or have a link on their site, instead, take the opportunity to build relationship with them (and their readers).

List your Blog

There are so many ways on listing your site and making it appear on the web, examples are directories and search engines. For me it’s not a requirement but you can do this in your free time. Just make sure you put your blog first on the bigger ones like DMOZ, Technorati, and then Search Engines like Yahoo, Google, and MSN.

Update

With the help of news aggregators, people will get notified of your new post in real time. But of course don’t just post and update your blog instead write a high quality posts and contents.

The web is full of information just like the above, what I posted isn’t 100% guaranteed instead it is just a guide and tips so you can gather ideas and make some good move. There are no rules on blogging and every each experience differs on each of the people blogging. I am sure that a lot of bloggers have their own regular readers and subscribers even if they are not doing the said advices so just have fun and be yourself.
