Reasons why you shouldn’t join a Blog Network
Posting and thinking of the advantages of joining a blog network, it’s only fair enough to post about the other side of it. Blog Networks aren’t a place that will suit every blogger’s needs and personality so make sure to take some time and think about the following before signing up for one.
Risk
Among others, risk is the very first to take in account. Blog Network consist of many individual persons that at times will let you down and in time, they may have decisions even without your knowledge. For instance, you wrote an article and posted it in the network’s blog then after a couple of days you will notice your article has been deleted.
Legalities
Some network are legal entities and will require you to sign a contract. By signing one of these, you are entering a legal agreement that governs a variety of aspects and one of these may include to not blog the same topic outside the network’s blog.
Ownership and Rights
In many cases, the article you post in the blog networks will be owned by the network. This means that if you leave a blog network you will only leave with your self (and if there is, some shares of revenue).
Split Revenue
In most cases, blog networks are requiring shared revenue with the owners of it. Some established networks will pay you of a fixed price per month in certain amount of posts and incentives about some factors like traffic and some networks are shared revenue. If you don’t want to share, then blog networks will not fit you.
As with any blogging, the traffic and revenue will not appear just overnight so don’t rush signing up in a blog network. They can enhance your blogging experience but it may put pressure and give you considerable problems.

bayanihan blog network is an example of philippine based networks but I really don’t know if they are A-listers. In strictness, I really don’t know why do they have to be strict except if they are like weblogs inc or gawker or b5media. as for me I don’t have a blog network. I really don’t know if I want to or just want to try it. I don’t want to make a mistake and that’s the fact I am not in a blog network. if it will suit my personality then why not. LoL
I am now working about your suggestion so make sure to read it. :)
regards,
You’re right! There are certain things that you need to consider when joining blog networks. There have been a number of blog networks in Manila who invited me to join. I nearly joined one but decided to backout for the very same reasons you pointed out. Nothing against blog networks, except that sometimes, I have my own opinions which I am sure might not sound palatable to some members which is why it’s better that i just do it on my own.
I’ve heard stories already about friends becoming enemies and breakups of blog networks. Besides, pinoy blog networks, i kind of look at them with similarity to Pinoy Organization in America. What I mean is, everybody wants to be “President”. In other words, am sure some of these blog networks there are those who try to outsmart, out tactics their members if that’s what I’m reading from your advice.
But overall, that was a good reminder you got over there!
most of blog networks have their own requirements and terms. as of now hundreds of blog networks or maybe thousands are making this kind of agreement and that’s the reasons I hate about networks. you can’t just do your thing. but we can’t alter the fact that they can also help us, individual bloggers, grow and learn more.
about the pinoy blog betworks, maybe most of them are like that but there’s still others, I think, that are working as a team and not as a group.
thanks and regards
hi angelo! you are probably right. i guess the best way is to give it a try and see if it works for you, if it doesn’t, then just opt-out in the future. most of these blog networks require that you have “this and that” average traffic stats, pagerank and etc., really discouraging specially when you’re clueless as to promoting your blog. and when the very reason you joined is to promote your blog in the first place..in my case, what i do is just write about topics i really want to write. besides, when i came up with my blogs, making money wasn’t really one of the reasons. so right now, i stick to the idea of my blog being a collection of personal experiences, some commentaries and some paid posts. if people will read it, then that’s a welcome bonus…hooray for me! if they don’t, at least i still get to write about those that really make me happy wasting my time posting..lol..as in any other industry, the blogosphere is a tough arena, hence the expression, “it’s a jungle out there”..pitfalls abound..a happy disposition will let your blog shine through no matter what “weather” comes to your way.. cheers angelo! :) and as always, thanks to your regular visit.. :)

hi angelo! :) are there philippine-based blog networks (i mean that pays)? the usual ones have really strict requirements and most of the time i think it’s by invitation..they usually get A-List bloggers for their network so commoner bloggers like myself don’t stand a chance in getting a little space to publish on their network blogs.. so instead of them helping you get traffic for your site, it’s more like the A-List blogger is the one driving traffic to the network blog..
in my case, i don’t mind sharing my work, but i guess it’s just too hard to get into it..and also, they focus on niche blogs as well, onew i don’t have at the moment. are you part of any network blog?
