I just finished watching I-Witness with Governor Grace Padaca of Isabela. It caught my attention since the host is Howie Severino. I really like how he deliver the words and, of course, his very own documentaries. This night’s show tackled about Illegal Logging with the title “si GOB at ang mga bugador” and as far as I know that is a very absurd thing to do specially the forest they are cutting trees with is the northern Sierra Madre mountain range. Filipinos know how “green” Sierra Madre is. Now that we mention it and have seen it (even only on TV) I think that Isabela Governor have guts.

Illegal Logging have their own “members” and most of them are really powerful individual or family (which way you want it). It is also said in the said show that it may endanger their lives because of the “enemies” scouting the said premises. On top of that, the governor engaged in battle by stopping the Illegal Logging operation in Isabela.

The people who are suffering with this battle aren’t the illegal logger’s primary leaders instead the bugadors that’s why governor is giving amnesty by not capturing the bugadors. Most of them turned to fishing and some are planting vegetables in their backyards.

You can also find more information about it by going to Howie Severino’s blog under the gmanews.tv website by clicking this link:

The teaser poster was displayed at the American Film Market last November 2006 and the movie will be displayed in big screen this coming 2009. I just wish that the director would be Tim Burton. The plot is, of course, about Lord Dracula and the Belmont Clan and it will take place in 15th century Transylvania. Most of the fans of the game is hoping for the movie not to “rape” their childhood.

As for me, the reason for my absence is that, school is starting and I really don’t have plenty of time to make a new post. I am now a graduating student of Multimedia Arts and I am thinking of creating WordPress themes after I graduated (I just hope I can do that too).

As for my blog, I really don’t think I can post much in this whole semester but I will try to post as much as possible. So be sure to still visit my blog and don’t forget to drop a card.

As I logged in last Sunday in my Wordpress Admin Page, I noticed that there is an update for the no longer supported plugin. Yes, All in one SEO pack is no longer supported and it’s final update before last Sunday only occurred for the release of Wordpress 2.5.1 and after that Uberdose, the original developer of the All in one SEO Pack plugin, said that he will no longer update the said plugin. But hey, I got an update last Sunday so how come it is no longer supported? Well, out of curiosity, I went to my plugins page and found out the the author has been changed.

The author of All in One SEO Pack now found a new developer, Michael Torbert. The new developer’s username is hallsofmontezuma on WordPress.org and is the author of WP Security Scan and SMS Text Message.

So, to all bloggers who are using the plugin, no fear because All in One SEO Pack will live in the release of Wordpress 2.6 in this coming August.

Last time, I introduced the Blog Networks, now I will try to introduce Niche Blogging.

In a simple term, Niche Blogging are blogging in which you exclusively focus on a specific subsection of a general (and usually popular) topic. A blog that focus entirely about mobile phones in a Gadgets and Technology as a General Topic is an example.

Thinking of your interests, when you are interested in a particular hobby or topic, the chances are thousands or even millions of peoples also like that particular topic. So, searching for a blogging niche is very simple or rather you don’t need to.

I’ll give an example - You are watching Chuck and that is your favorite TV show (and that’s my favorite TV show too) and in particular you are not the only one who want to know more about that show, right? Now, the general topic for this one is Entertainment but if you go down further in it’s subcategory you will arrive in the TV Shows topic in which you can use as your Blogging Niche and you can also go further to another subcategory of Chuck Series as to what you like and this is now explained below.

There are also called Extreme Niche Blogging in which the whole concept is in the title already, Niche Blogging to the Extreme. If you want an example then go to this blog: http://www.magicpixel.com.au/epson4800blog/. That blog is about Gadgets and Technology in which is the General Topic and going down to Printers as it’s subcategory in which you will find Epson 4800 Printer as for it’s Extreme Blogging Niche.

So be sure to choose the right niche for you before tackling a topic in which you will lose interest at the end.

Blogs are experiencing downfalls when no one is reading it or no one really cares about the blog. And to add in that statement, all average blogs will face its downfall no matter how many friends the bloggers have. Average blogs doesn’t stick in the world wide web for a long time. For now, let’s find out and understand the common lifecycle of a blog and learn how to keep them alive.

I’ve created a graph for you to see the hypothetical traffic and explanations why they are going down.

In the graph above, there are numbers and the flow from blue to red are traffic from cold to hot. In this graph I will explain the numbers and how they can get traffic from that posts.

1. I Now Annouce My Blog

Hello World is the common way some bloggers are doing for their first post. They are announcing to the world that they already have a blog and in fact, this is their first post. It will not take long before the blogger will notice that no one is actually reading and visiting his/her site not realizing why on earth anyone actually would.

2. Social Networking lists

In this part, the journey begins for their blog and will start to take a kick on the blogosphere, and some of this bloggers will also learn and use some things to help their journey. They will start reading and visiting other blogs with niches then they will realize how crowded the niche they chose. They, then, will post contents to their blog that has been tackled in other thousands of blogs on the world wide web.

3. 3 different Cookie Recipe

Continued the journey, they are now really kicking some traffic higher than their old posts. In some cases, this is the works of search engines and the new found EntreCard and some others tricks they may have learned in their journey.

4. 1500ec Contest

Here, the blog owner launched a contest with requirements that will surely benefit the blog like drive traffic to the blog in exchange with a price. In most cases, the blog owner already signed up for a Digg and a StumbleUpon account. With this, the traffic grown unexpectedly and will surely experience it’s first server crash because of it’s low cost hosting plan.

5. Baked Macaroni sucks, Bigtime!

Posting without the knowledge that no one will read this kind of post will surely come in it’s point. So, the tendency of this mistake will lead to some lost of traffic.

6. ????

Unless the blog has a visitor and reading the content of the blog then it will surely die. The journey will go on for just a reason - he really has some time to waste to post to his blog.

Posting and thinking of the advantages of joining a blog network, it’s only fair enough to post about the other side of it. Blog Networks aren’t a place that will suit every blogger’s needs and personality so make sure to take some time and think about the following before signing up for one.

Risk

Among others, risk is the very first to take in account. Blog Network consist of many individual persons that at times will let you down and in time, they may have decisions even without your knowledge. For instance, you wrote an article and posted it in the network’s blog then after a couple of days you will notice your article has been deleted.

Legalities

Some network are legal entities and will require you to sign a contract. By signing one of these, you are entering a legal agreement that governs a variety of aspects and one of these may include to not blog the same topic outside the network’s blog.

Ownership and Rights

In many cases, the article you post in the blog networks will be owned by the network. This means that if you leave a blog network you will only leave with your self (and if there is, some shares of revenue).

Split Revenue

In most cases, blog networks are requiring shared revenue with the owners of it. Some established networks will pay you of a fixed price per month in certain amount of posts and incentives about some factors like traffic and some networks are shared revenue. If you don’t want to share, then blog networks will not fit you.

As with any blogging, the traffic and revenue will not appear just overnight so don’t rush signing up in a blog network. They can enhance your blogging experience but it may put pressure and give you considerable problems.

After posting yesterday a basic Introduction to Blog Networks, someone e-mailed me asking about reasons on why should a blogger join a blog network and it turned my attention to some positive things on why joining a blog network.

Relationship

First thing to count about, of course, is building relationship. Many bloggers enjoyed being a part of or a member of something larger than themselves and that it was the relationship with their co-bloggers. Many blog networks have some communication systems like forum, chat, and a mailing list and the new VoIP Sessions.

Traffic

All blogs (including sites that’s not a blog) start without any bit of traffic in it, specially bloggers, who don’t have any friends and connection in the blogosphere (except if you have friends who are already blogging). The result was finding readership will take you a year or so before can attain hundred readers or even a hundred pageviews a day.

Search Engine Optimization

One pros that I can think of being in most blog networks is that on the day your blog launches, you are guaranteed to be linked to from each blogs in the network. Being linked to by other blogs on other domains is one of the best ways to get higher rankings in search engines, and will lately lead to blog traffic.

Administration

This is not very much likely to contribute but in some cases this can teach you aspects to make your blog neat and tidy. A blog network often handles administrative works such as moderation of comment spam. You can’t let readers leave your blog of course just because you have hundreds of spam in your blog.

Expertise

Many bloggers start without the skills needed to setup and ran a blog. Very few of which became successful blogs and blog networks can offer a large range of skills and expertise to help bloggers grow a blog. Similarly, when you come across a problem in a network with many bloggers, it’s amazing how quickly the problem can be solved even without doing anything.

Education in Blogging

There are some bloggers who will join networks to learn how to blog on a much professional level so that they can use it in their own blogging ventures.

This is just some of the reasons why bloggers are joining blog networks and in this post, I only tackled the reasons on why to join blog networks.
